Wallet notification

In one sentence
A wallet notification is a short message that appears on the customer’s phone when their loyalty card changes in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

On iPhone
On iPhone, you can’t send just any message. A message appears only when something on the card changes, for example the number of stamps, and if a message is set for that change. Apple advises keeping it for news that matters right now.
On Android
Google Wallet lets you add a message to the card and show it as a notification. The limit: 3 notifications per card in 24 hours, card updates included. And the customer must have turned on notifications for their passes.
Using them well
A useful notification is rare: a stamp added, a reward ready, a birthday offer. By default, the card limits promotions to 2 per customer per month, counting email and notifications together. A promotion is still a promotion: send it only to customers who agreed to receive them.
On the 9th stamp of a café card, the card updates and the phone shows: “One more stamp until your free coffee.”
